Terms of use

The conditions on which you use this site. Last updated 31 July 2026.

Who we are

Read vs Listen is a website operated by Beth Kempster, a sole trader based in the United Kingdom. By using this site you agree to these terms. If you don't agree with them, please don't use the site.

What this site is for

Read vs Listen publishes editorial opinion about whether a given book is better experienced in print or as an audiobook, and provides a free tool that applies the same framework to any title. It is provided for general information and enjoyment.

No guarantees

Our verdicts are opinions, not statements of fact. Book details such as page counts, runtimes, narrators and editions are given in good faith and checked where we can, but publishers change editions and re-record audiobooks, and we can't guarantee that every detail is current. Always check the edition on Amazon before you buy.

We provide the site on an "as is" basis and don't warrant that it will be uninterrupted or error-free. To the fullest extent permitted by law we exclude liability for any loss arising from your use of the site. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that can't lawfully be excluded. Your statutory rights as a consumer are unaffected.
