What this book actually is
Let It Snow: Three Holiday Romances collects three linked stories by Maureen Johnson, John Green and Lauren Myracle, first published in 2008. A Christmas Eve snowstorm buries the town of Gracetown, and the publisher sums up the three tales as a girl on a risky shortcut, friends racing to a Waffle House, and a teacup pig.
In the audio’s running order the stories are Johnson’s The Jubilee Express, Green’s A Cheertastic Christmas Miracle and Myracle’s The Patron Saint of Pigs. Netflix adapted it as a film that reworks each story, so this page sticks to the book. Kirkus suggests it for ages 11 to 16.
The case for reading it
There is little structural reason to prefer print. It is three linked stories with small casts, and no maps, documents or special layout were reported. If you want to read one story at a time between other books, print makes that easy.
The case for listening to it
Each story has its own narrator: Rebecca Soler for Maureen Johnson’s story, Brandon Gill for John Green’s and Ali Ahn for Lauren Myracle’s. Kirkus praises Soler’s range of character voices, Gill’s humour and singing, and Ahn’s convincing take on her character’s inner struggle.
The recording runs about 8 hours 9 minutes, about 5 hours 26 minutes at 1.5x.
The audiobook in detail
Penguin Random House Audio publishes the UK edition, and Listening Library and Books on Tape released the US one on 22 October 2019. US listings cluster around 8 hours 8 to 10 minutes; a Listening Books entry gives 9 hours 52 minutes, which looks like an outlier and is not used here.
Speed times on 8h 9m: about 5h 26m at 1.5x and 4h 5m at 2x (calculated).
Who should ignore this verdict
Anyone expecting the film’s versions of the stories should know that Kirkus notes the film reworked each one. The book may also not suit anyone who wants a single love story rather than three.

- A narrator for each story, praised by Kirkus
