What this book actually is
Twisted Love is book 1 of Ana Huang’s Twisted series, self-published in 2021 and republished by Bloom Books in 2022 after the series went viral. In the UK it is a Piatkus paperback of 368 pages (5 May 2022), and it can be read as a standalone.
Alex Volkov agrees to look after Ava Chen, his best friend’s sister, who has nightmares about a childhood she cannot remember. The book alternates between Ava and Alex, and secrets from the past drive the second half. Netflix bought the rights to the series in January 2025; as of October 2026 it is in development, with no cast or date announced.
The case for reading it
Nothing on the read side is confirmed. The book is a present-day romance with two points of view and a small cast, and no texts, documents or maps have been reported.
The open question is Ava’s memories. If print sets her nightmares or flashbacks apart, in italics or separate chapters, a listener has to notice that from the narration, and it would add a reason to read. We have not checked a copy, so it is not counted.

The story moves in one direction: Ava, Alex and the secrets between them. In the Duet Edition it is a 10-hour listen, or about 6 hours 45 minutes at 1.5x.

We scored the Duet Edition, published by Tantor Media on 21 October 2025. It runs 10 hours 7 minutes, unabridged: about 6 hours 45 minutes at 1.5x and about 5 hours 4 minutes at 2x. Tantor describes it as “performed in duet style” and adds that “a dual narration edition is available separately”.
That dual edition came out from Tantor Audio in 2022 and runs 10 hours 41 minutes, 34 minutes longer; Tantor does not say why the lengths differ. Both editions are on Audible UK and Audible US. Spanish, French and Danish translations also exist.
Who should ignore this verdict
If you want to know before buying that each character has their own narrator, note that Tantor has not said who voices whom in either edition. The UK publisher states that the book has a jealous, possessive antihero, explicit sexual content and profanity, and recommends it for 18+.
